Two Council officials from Lora del Río, Sevilla, have been arrested on charges which include forgery and misappropriation of funds.
Guardia Civil officers arrived at the Town Hall in Lora del Río , not for a case of political corruption but to catch ‘red-handed’ two officials who had been misappropriating municipal funds for at least the past twelve years.
The two officials created false identities for entry onto the municipal payroll, the money subsequently being paid into their own accounts. They had apparently being carrying out this action for at least the past twelve years and the amount of money involved is in excess of €1 million.
The two officials could be charged with further crimes once documents seized in the raid have been analysed and investigated.
