A 34 year old women died in the Carlos Haya Hospital in Málaga after earlier undergoing breast enhancement surgery at a private clinic.
The woman apparently did not recover properly from the cosmetic surgery and was transferred to the Carlos Haya Hospital where she entered the Plastic Surgery department. However, her condition continued to deteriorate and she was then transferred to Intensive Care.
She died at around 06:00.
There have been several incidents of deaths resulting from cosmetic surgery operations, the most notable being the First Lady of Nigeria, Stella Obasanjo, who died after ultrasonic liposuction treatment in 2005 in Marbella.
On that occasion, the surgeon responsible was jailed for one year and banned from practising medicine for three years.
