On Friday evening, firemen discovered the body of an elderly man at his apartment in avenida de Velázquez, Málaga.
Neighbours had not seen the elderly man for some time and alerted the authorities. The fire brigade were called in at around 19:00 to effect entry into the apartment and, once inside, they discovered the lifeless body of the man and next to him, the body of his dog.
The bathroom door was slightly burned and it is thought that there could have been a small fire and that perhaps the man and his dog had been asphyxiated due to fumes.
The National Police are carrying out an investigation into the incident.
