Police have arrested a Rumanian couple who approached at least four different women on the streets of Alcantarilla, Murcia, and offered to sell their five-month old daughter for €5,000 euros.
The couple even apparently offered to leave their contact phone number with women who turned them down in case any of them changed their minds.
One woman immediately reported the approach to police, who then traced the couple and made the arrest. First thoughts were that the child may not have been the offspring of the pair but it was later confirmed that it was their own daughter who they had offered to sell.
The couple have four older children living with them at their home in Alcantarilla. The child offered for sale has now been placed in care.
