More than 300 people are expected to participate in the VIII Carrera de las Aguas de Istán on Sunday organised by the provincial and local authorities and the Club San Pedro Atletismo.
The Carrera de las Aguas de Istan is divided into three sections: a 500 metre course for the very young, 1,500 metres for juveniles and a 6,000 metre course for adults.
The first race begins at 11.30. Registration is completely free, open to amateurs and professionals, and registration ends on Friday. There will be gifts for all participants, shirts, refreshments, trophies and paella to finish off proceedings.
The course is through the narrow streets and also takes in twenty water sources, including the mouth of the río Molinos and the Arab canals in El Coto.
