A 31 year old man has been arrested in Pinoso, Alicante, for allegedly dousing a dog in flammable liquid and then setting it on fire, the animal suffering various degrees of burns.
The incident occurred at around 15:00 on April 27th. Residents reported seeing a dog running down the street with its back on fire. A woman tried to extinguish the fire and restrain the animal until the owner arrived. The dog had taken refuge under a car parked outside the owner’s home.
Police began an investigation into the incident which resulted in the arrest of the suspect who has been charged with abuse of a domestic animal.
The poor dog, meanwhile, is still undergoing treatment for its injuries.
