A 16 year old boy died this afternoon after being swept out to sea at playa de Los Lances in Tarifa, Cádiz province.
The incident happened at around 16:00 on Sunday afternoon while the youth was swimming at playa de los Lances. A friend of the youth tried unsuccessfully to reach him but he himself had to be rescued by another person on the beach.
Guardia Civil and Marine Rescue boats and a helicopter searched the area but by the time they had located the youth he had already drowned.
