Gigolo scam

The National Police have broken up an organised network of six people in Fuengirola who allegedly defrauded around 180 men of €53,000 with false offers of jobs as ‘gigolos’.

An advertisement, published nationally, offered men the opportunity to escort women who were seeking contact in exchange for ‘interesting’ benefits.

The men were directed to several websites where, in order to register for the service, they had to pay anything between €200 and €1,000. The men were subsequently given details of so-called contacts, women seeking their services, but nothing ever happened.

Six people have been arrested in connection with the scam, these being a married couple, 45 year old M.R.B.G. and 48 year old E.R.C, the wife’s sister, an IT expert, and three others who opened bank accounts to receive payments from victims of the fraud in exchange for 5% of the proceeds.
