13 families lose their holidays due to fraudulent travel agent

At least 13 people have denounced the owner of a travel agency in El Palo Málaga for fraud. He is accused of keeping money paid to him by clients for their holidays and declaring bankruptcy shortly before the due travel date.

It was the cruise company Pullmantur who alerted people to the fact that payment for their holidays was still outstanding. When these people, including a retired couple hoping to go on a Mediterranean cruise, went to the office of the travel agent they found a notice saying that it had closed.

The elderly couple alone have lost around €13,000 and can no longer look forward to their luxury cruise.

The Court Number 8 in Málaga is investigating the complaints. It is thought that many more people could have been duped.

The Consumer’s Association advises everyone to always sign a contract with the travel agent specifying the amount paid and the reason for the payment. Too late in this case, though.
