Barcelona looked to be well on the way to victory against Real Sociedad after Xavi and Favrigas put them two goals ahead within the first ten minutes, but Real fought back to earn a 2-2 draw, Agirretxe and Griezmann the scorers.
Two goals from Benzema, a penalty from Ronaldo and one from Higuain were enough to give Real Madrid a 4-2 victory over neighbours Getafe. Miku scored both goals for Getafe.
A single strike from Soldado was sufficient to give Valencia a 1-0 win against Atlético Madrid and they share the lead at the top of La Liga with Real Madrid, two points clear of Barcelona, Real Sociedad and Sevilla.
Sevilla travelled to Villarreal and came away with one point after an evenly balnced contest ended all square at 2-2. The Villarreal keeper was sent off early in the match for giving away a penalty.
Negredo and Alexis were the scorers for Sevilla, Rossi (penalty) and Rúben for Villarreal.
