The number of unemployed registered at the offices of National Employment Institute (INEM) in Andalucia rose by 23,592 during the month of September 2011, representing an increase of 2.57%t over the previous month and an increase of 5.06% over September 2010.
The official number of registered unemployed in Andalucia now stands at 943,094. Unemployment rose in all provinces except for Almeria which registered a fall of 0.63%.
Nationally, unemployment rose by 95,817 to stand at 4,226,744. September 2011 is the worst upturn in unemployment since 1996, the year when comparable statistics were introduced.
These are, of course, figures for the registered unemployed and do not take into account those who, for example, do not register after being told there are no jobs available.
