An American company is prospecting for gold and copper in the Sierra de los Filabres mountains in Almeria province and surveys up to 1,000 metres deep have already been carried out.
The prospecting is being carried out on private lands. The various administrations are involved in the project and the land owners are reported to be ‘expectant’.
Meanwhile, the Commonwealth of Filabres has speeded up or bypassed many administrative procedures relating to a new tender to explore for minerals in the area, this one being part of Plan Marcia II of the Junta de Andalucia.
