Mijas Pueblo clock being repaired

After just two years, the oldest clock in Mijas Pueblo is to be repaired and this will allow this year’s New Year celebrations to return to the plaza de la Libertad.

The clock, made of bronze and weighing 800 kilos, has stood in front of the Ermita de San Sebastián since 1902.

The clock was purchased by the Council in July 1902 for the sum of 2058 pesetas (€12.36) which was paid in three instalments of 686 pesetas (€4.12). Nothing has changed then, has it?. The cost of repairing the clock is estimated at €1,700.
