Local Police in Vélez-Málaga have arrested sixteen people for their alleged involvement in the theft of horticultural products from various farms in the Axarquia.
In addition, the police have carried out 511 inspections on vehicles travelling though the countryside which has led to the seizure of produce from 34 roadside stalls where produce was being offered without municipal authorisation to consumers.
Inspections were also carried out on 39 authorised outlets such as grocery shops and market stalls. The Local Police are set to continue monitoring rural areas during the next few months.
