The National Police and Europol have dismantled the largest network of counterfeiters detected in Spain, arresting 14 people and seizing over one and a half million euros in good quality fake notes.
Amongst those detained are the forger and the main distributor and they were in the process of making another €50,000 worth of counterfeit notes. The network was based behind a building allegedly used as a canned food company by the alleged leader.
The group is thought to have already distributed over two million euros in fake notes in Spain and the rest of Europe and had the necessary supplies to make another one and a half million euros.
The network is also involved in drug trafficking and had suffered an earlier setback when eleven people were arrested and over a ton of hashish was confiscated.
