Vélez-Málaga Council is all set to begin the dismantling of a mobile phone antenna in the Cortijada Los Pérez area of Benajarafe after 15 years of complaints by local residents.
Local residents attribute around 50 cases of cancer (in a population of 400 people) to the appearance of the antenna and have been campaigning for years for its removal.
During the next three weeks, after all legal issues are finally resolved, it is hoped to remove about 70% of the antenna and within the next few months to remove it entirely.
