Sevilla 2-6 Real Madrid

Real Madrid returned to the top of La Liga on Saturday evening after a tough battle with Sevilla, both teams ending the match with only ten players. The final scoreline was 2-6, with Ronaldo getting a hat-trick.

Real took the lead through Ronaldo in the tenth minute. Callejon added a second and Ronaldo made it 0-3 as half time approached. Just before the break, Pepe picked up his second yellow card and was suitably ordered from the pitch.

Di Maria made it 0-4 before Jesús Navas pulled one back for the home side. Manu then got himself sent off and both teams were now down to ten men. Ronaldo then added his third of the night, this one from the penalty spot after Benzema had been hauled to the ground inside the area.

Substitute Altintop added his name to the scoresheet in the 89th minute and then jsut vbefore the final whistle, Negredo got round Casillas to make the final score 2-6.

Nine yellow cards and two reds were dished out by the referee and there should really have been several more.

Earlier in the evening, Espanyol moved up to seventh place in La Liga after beating Sporting Gijón 1-2.  Thievy scored for Espanyol after just two minutes and it stayed that way until midway through the second half when Sporting drew level through Barral.

However, it was to be Espanyol’s night as Sergio García hammered home the winner with seven minutes remaining.
