The man arrested yesterday in Sabadell for the killing of his wife in Santa Coloma de Queralt, Tarragona, has committed suicide.
The alleged killer, 40 year old Joan T.P., was in handcuffs and had been taken under police escort to the scene of the crime and was accompanied by his lawyer and the clerk of the court. The objective was to create a reconstruction of the fateful event.
Joan T.P. apparently pushed the police officers out of the way and hurled himself down the stairwell from the fourth floor. Medics were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was no prior record of abuse within the family and the couple had two children, aged 3 years and 7 years.
