The eighteen taxi drivers in Torrox are not happy at the Council’s decision to enact a Municipal Ordinance from 2006 and charge them €601 per year to renew their licences.
The taxi drivers do not oppose paying a renewal fee but believe that €601 is excessive and is way above that paid in other municipalities. They point out that this has not occurred for the past five years and then suddenly, in a time of deep financial crisis for the industry, this excessive levy is imposed.
