Philip Morris first to raise cigarette prices

Philip Morris has become the first tobacco company to react to the government’s recent change in tax structure, increasing prices by 25 cents per packet.

A packet of Marlboro will, as from Saturday, cost €4.50, Chesterfield €4.20, L&M €4.00, Lark €4.50, Next Red €4.00.

Other cigarette manufacturers are expected to follow suit.
