A resident of the Tamango Hill urbanisation between Nerja and Torrox notified police of a small craft heading towards the shore at high speed where a number of vehicles were waiting.
Police units were sent to the area and 1,400 kilos of hashish were seized. The boat brought in 45 bales of hashish resin and were due to load it onto the waiting vehicles, but the arrival of the police put an end to that particular plan and the traffickers fled and hid in the urbanisations near Vílchez and Calaceite beaches.
A police search for the traffickers was unsuccessful. Over three tons of drugs has been seized in the area in the past month.
