Pepe Pascual, ‘Hijo Predilecto’ (Favourite Son) and Official Chronicler of the town and the Nerja Caves, has died at the age 0f 73 years. The funeral takes place at 18:00 on Saturday at the iglesia El Salvador on the Balcón de Europa.
Pepe Pascual, a long time contributor to the SUR newspaper, retired as an officer of the Council in 2004 and in 2009 was named Hijo Predilecto of Nerja.
On June 2010, coinciding with his birthday, a ceremony was held to name a square after him, Plaza Cronista Pepe Pascual, the location being above the Verano Azul car park. A statue to Pepe adorns the square.
