A fire which started on Tuesday in Rasquera, Tarragona, is still out of control and has so far destroyed 3,000 hectares of land, 400 of which are forest.
More than 300 firefighters are battling the blaze which is advancing slowly towards Rasquera, El Perelló, Tivenys and Benifallet. The northern front, Rasquera, and southern front, El Perelló, are being held but the fire continues to advance to the east.
No-one has been able to reach Cabra Feixet, near El Perelló, the site of cave paintings as it is at the limit of the blaze but is suspected that the paintings will have suffered some blackening. The TV-3022 is closed in both directions.
