The weekend saw the First Memorial Basketball Tornament ‘Pepe Pascual’, with tribute paid to the recently deceased chronicler of the Nerja Caves and Nerja who was also closely linked with sports.
The family of Pepe Pascual were presented with a plaque and his widow received a bouquet of flowers from the Councillor for Sports, José Alberto Tomé.
The tournament involved teams from the Nerja Basketball Club and the Clinica Rincon Axarquia team based in Velez-Malaga. In the junior category, Nerja won 63-49. In the women’s category, the visitors were victorious with a score of 27-47 and in the senior category, it was 59-63 in favour of the vistors.
