At an ordinary general assembly, the Andalucian Association of Aggregates (AFA-Andalucia) called for more infrastructure and construction projects as the consumption of aggregates fell by 19% in 2011 to 27.4 million tons.
With fewer civil works and no upturn in building projects, the consumption of aggregates is expected to fall even further this year, perhaps by between 15% and 20%. This would take consumption down to levels of 25 years ago.
