Paella at Merendero Moreno, Burriana beach, Nerja

Merendero Moreno, NerjaHaving decided that today was ‘paella day’, I headed off to Burriana beach. I decided to try the paella at Merendero Moreno, and for two reasons: one, I haven’t had paella there before and two, more importantly, it was the only place with a table free. Should have been a clue!

On the plus side, there were a great number of waiters and the service was extremely fast, about five minutes and the paella was in front of me. No time to finish the olives!

So, the paella….One mussel, one small prawn and two small chicken bones, very little meat on them. And that was it, the rest was just yellow rice. The photo of the ‘remnants’ tells the story.

Spot the slight difference with paella ‘remnants’ at Merendero José Cruz.

paella shells etc

On quality, bottom of the list I’m afraid, way behind La Barca, José Cruz and Ayo.
