Rail strike on Friday, minimum service levels agreed

The Ministry of Public Works has set the minimum service levels to be applicable during the strike by railway workers (Renfe, Adif, Feve) on Friday August 3rd.

In the case of RENFE, the service levels will be 75% for AVE and long distance trains, and 67% for intercity.

For suburban and local train services, Madrid has been set at 60% service during rush hour3 and 40% at other times. Outside Madrid the level is set at 58% during rush hours and 42% for the rest.

For ADIF, the minimum level will be 18.5% (ticket sales etc) and for FEVE, the minimum level for essential services is set at 27.16%.

The strike is in protest at plans to liberalise the rail service as well as loss of bonus and a reduction in the number of ‘union days’.
