As is invariably the case with strikes and protests, there was a slight difference in the figures presented by the two sides, the rail network operator RENFE and the CGT union, as to the level of participation in Friday’s industrial action.

18 AVE trains cancelled in Andalucia

After several days of partial strikes byRenfe and Adif workers, today, Thursday, is a 24-hour stoppage with 18 AVE trains cancelled in Andalucia.

RENFE cancels 267 trains

RENFE, the rail network operator, has cancelled 267 high-speed, long and middle distance trains for Friday as a result of the strike called by unions in protest at the liberalisation of the sector, so if you are travelling on Friday, check that your train is actually scheduled to run.

Rail strike planned for August 3rd

The unions have convened a 24 hour rail strike (Renfe, Feve, Adif) for Friday August 3rd in protest at government plans to liberalise the rail sector by creating four separate management corporations for passengers, freight, maintenance and rolling stock.

Rail system back to normal

The Spanish rail network is virtually back to normal after Wednesday’s strike called by the CGT Union with just a few overnight sleeper trains being delayed by a couple of hours.

Rail strike today

Around 54 middle-distance, AVE high-speed and Avant trains have been cancelled today in Andalucia as a result of a one day strike called by the Union CGT. Many local train services will also be affected.

RENFE strike averted

The proposed 24 hour stoppage by RENFE rail workers on December 29th has been called off. Rail strike called for December 29th

RENFE workers have called a strike for Monday December 29th in support of their request for an extension of their existing collective bargaining agreement with the rail operator. The current agreement runs out at the end of the year. All of the unions, with the exception of  SEMAF (drivers) agreed to the strike call.
