A newborn baby found abandoned in Estepona had suffered two internal skull fractures and internal cranial bruising and is now in an induced coma in hospital.
After being found abandoned on a plot of land in calle Margarita in urbanisation El Paraíso Barronal, the baby was taken to the Hospital Costa del Sol suffering from hypothermia and poor general health. mAfter being stabilised, the baby was transferred to the Hospital Materno for more specialised treatment.
It was then discovered that the baby had fractures to the skull and internal bruising. The ‘abuse protocol’ was activated, as is standard in such cases.
On Tuesday night, doctors decided to induce a coma and the baby is now in the ICU as pediatricians try to determine the extent of any brain damage.
The mother of the baby, a 20 year old, is now in custody in hospital and is so far suspected of the crime of abandonment.
