The Guardia Civil is investigating the cause of death of 70 year old Manuel Villegas Peláez, a resident of the village of Hoya del Salobral (Jaén) who went missing from his home ten days ago.
The body was found on Saturday about four kilometres from the village in an area which had already been searched but without success. There were apparently no signs of injuries on the body, leading to an initial conclusion that Manuel Villegas Peláez, who suffered from dementia, could have died from malnutrition and exhaustion and that his death occurred several days ago.
Manuel Villegas Peláez left his home on August 28th but never returned. Police, volunteers and family had conducted a number of searches of the surrounding area but without success.
