Strong, gusting westerly winds have been hampering firefighting efforts in Chulilla in the Los Serranos district of Valencia, where 2,000 people have already been evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure.
Around 600 ground personnel and 31 aircraft are involved in trying to control the fire which is moving on four fronts.
No houses have yet been affected by the blaze but a warehouse storing wood has been destroyed.
The fire began yesterday and is still burning out of control.
