Elderly residents of care home offer to forego food to help pay care workers

Workers at the Suite La Maquesa residential care home for the elderly in Jérez have been protesting about outstanding salaries and residents at the home have offered to forego some of the food they receive in order to pay the salary of at least one worker.

Businessman Pedro Béjar has been in breach of his obligation to pay the full payroll to his staff for the past two years and his insolvency has manifested itself with respect to the products destined for the care of the elderly at the home.

While the workers have been demanding their overdue salaries, the elderly residents have offered to forego some of their food for a month so that at least one worker gets paid.
