A 73 year old man killed his 63 year old wife, set fire to the house and then took his own life by hanging himself, the incident occurring in the village of Sedes in the municipality of Narón in A Coruña.
The bodies of the couple were found at a farm in an area known as A Revolta and indications are that they died several days ago.
According to the police reconstruction of events, 73 year old A.L.G. allegedly killed his wife, 63 year old M.A.S. and set fire to the house. He then took his own life, hanging himself in an annex to the house. The bodies lay undiscovered for several days.
There was apparently a history of marital discord, but no record of complaints about abuse or violence within the family. The case is, however, being treated as one of gender violence.
