In 1999, the UN General Assembly designated November 25th as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and there will be one or two things going on in Nerja on this day.
At 12:45 in the Town Hall there will be a reading of a statement rejecting violence against women and at 13:00 there will be a gathering on the Balcón de Europa to remember those women killed this year as a result of domestic violence.
At 18:00 at the Nerja Cultural Centre, calle Granada 45, is a performance of the play ‘Las atacadas’ – ‘The attacked’ – by the Maria Zambrano theatre company. The play is a comedy which also addresses the issue of gender violence. Admission is free.
