National Police in Málaga have arrested a 44 year old man who tried to run over his former girlfriend and then stabbed a friend of hers who tried to protect her.
The incident took place at the junction of calle Arcángeles and calle Juan Varela in Cerrado de Calderón.The victim, a 30 year old foreign national, was accompanied by his girlfriend, a friend and the former girlfriend of the detainee.
As the group walked down the street, the detainee allegedly tried to run the girl over, shouting ‘I’ll kill you’ as he approached. The two men tried to protect the girl and one was hit by the vehicle. The attacker left the scene but returned a few minutes later wielding a knife and stabbed the young man in the side.
The victim was admitted to the Carlos Haya hospital in Málaga. The alleged attacker was detained shortly after the incident and has been charged with attempted murder. The motive for the attack has been described as ‘jealous rage’.
