The National Police have confirmed that a body found yesterday off El Zapillo beach in Almeria is that of a 29 year old Senegalese man who ran off and disappeared on February 11th when asked for his documentation by police officers.
The body was found about 200 metres from where the police officers lost sight of him on February 11th 2013 when he ran off after being asked for his documentation. Since that time, various searches have been carried out in the area, even using helicopters.
A few minutes after his disappearance, police found some of his clothes on the beach but no trace of the man himself.
The deceased had been resident in Almeria for seven years, despite being in the country illegally and the subject of an expulsion order. Prior to moving to Almeria he had been living in Barcelona.
