Second week of Iberia strikes

Today sees the start of a second week of strikes at Iberia, this time with the pilots union SEPLA now joining the protest. So far, around 1,300 flights have been cancelled.

Of the cancellations, 431 relate to Iberia, 100 to Iberia Express, 316 to Vueling and 434 to Air Nostrum. Both sides are waiting for the mediator in the dispute, Gregorio Tudela, to present his findings.

In February, parent company IAG presented an ERE relating to 3,807 staff, down from an original 4,500, as the result of a restructuring plan designed to save the airline. Ibera made a loss of €351 million in 2012, while British Airways made a profit of €347 million.
