Two boats carrying a total of 12 migrants were intercepted off Tarifa on Friday morning by Maritime Rescue vessels after calls were received from passengers on board the vessels and from people in Morocco.
In the waters off Tangier, Moroccan Gendarmes intercepted another five inflatable boats carrying a total of 42 people, 40 men and two women.
