Tentative agreement on redundancies at Isla Magica

Negotiations between the management of the Isla Magica theme park in Sevilla, unions and a consultant from Deloitte have resulted in a tentative agreement on redundancies. The park was recently taken over by the French Looping Group who announced its intention to streamline the loss-making concern.

The tentative agreement would result in 17 redundancies from the 150 strong workforce and the removal of six directors. There would also be changes to the contracts of a number of employees with a reduction in the total number of guaranteed working hours from 900 per season to 780 hours.

Sixteen employees who currently work 12 months per year will see their contracts changed from permanent to permanent-intermittent with the ultimate goal of reducing the number of permanent staff from the current 43 to around 13.
