Two beaches in Huelva closed to swimming

The beaches of Matalascañas and Mazagón on the eastern coast of Huelva have been closed to bathing as a result of the presence of Portuguese Man O’ War, Physalia physalis, jellyfish.

On Matalascañas beach, several jellyfish were washed ashore and analysis confirmed that they were of the species Physalia physalis. Red flags are flying on the beaches and swimming is not permitted until the authorities give the all clear.

Several Portuguese Man O’ War were also spotted off the coast of Cádiz on Monday.
