Over one hundred elderly residents of a private nursing home in Jaén are having to move out after structural defects were discovered in the building. The residence was only built five years ago.
The residents are being relocated but the staff, a total of 67 people, will be out of work until repairs have been carried out. It has been estimated that the repair work will take at least six months and cost well over one million euros.
The residents have one week to move out and find somewhere else in the city. However, they will still be expected to pay the mortgage on their apartments as well as the service costs.
