An 80 year-old woman died on Saturday from smoke inhalation after fire broke out in her home in the Madrid suburb of Getafe.
The fire broke out at around 13:30 on Saturday afternoon in the living room of the third floor apartment where the woman, who had disabilities, lived alone.
Neighbours alerted the authorities when they noticed smoke coming from the apartment. When firefighters arrived on the scene the fire had evolved and they could do nothing to save the life of the woman who died from smoke inhalation.
