The National Police in Almeria have arrested 37 people relating to Social Security fraud in the amount of €691,750. Another 92 people have been charged with fraud, illegal employment and forgery.
The fraud involved several dummy companies in the construction and cleaning sectors with fake work contracts being issued, mostly to foreigners, to enable both the claiming of unemployment benefit and residency for illegal immigrants.
Further arrests have not been ruled out.
