National Police officers have arrested a couple in Málaga in connection with the thefts of jewellery and cash from homes where the woman worked as a maid.
The investigation into the couple began when someone complained that their maid had stolen an envelope containing cash and for which they fired the maid. Later, the complainant discovered that several items of jewellery were missing from the house.
The total value of jewellery allegedly stolen from various homes by the woman has been put at €300,000. Cash totalling around €8,000 was also stolen.
The maid and her partner had been selling the jewellery at various locations throughout the city. Items of stolen jewellery were found in their possession at the time of their arrest, with others being recovered from local establishments.
