Local Police in La Cala de Mijas carried out an operation last night against illegal street vendors, denouncing a total of seven and confiscating around one hundred counterfeit items.
The action took place at around 22:30 on Thursday evening with more than a dozen officers taking part. A dozen vendors, all from Senegal, were identified and seven of them were denounced.
The action reportedly took place as the result of an attack last Sunday on a Local Police officer in the area. The officer was apparently punched in the face by one of the illegal vendors and has been off work since. This was not the first case of violence towards police officers in the area this summer.
