Police in Algeciras have located an illegal immigrant trying to cross into Spain from Morocco hidden in a lorry amongst cartons of shoes.
A team of Finnish dog handlers from the European Borders Agency (FRONTEX), who are working with the Spanish authorities in the port of Algeciras, marked a lorry for inspection. A cursory inspection of the vehicle showed a crack in the top canvas of the cargo container and notice was given to customs officials responsible for authorising the breaking of the seal on the load.
Once the lorry was opened, an immigrant was rescued from his hiding place amongst the cartons of shoes.
