A 7-year-old child collapsed and died on Friday during a physical education class at the Caminillo Infant and Primary school in Loja, Granada.
The incident occurred at around 11:30. The boy collapsed during a game which only apparently involved walking. Regulatory medical procedures were carried out but unfortunately they were unsuccessful and the boy died.
The parents had reportedly informed the school that a heart murmur had been detected in their son but, according to the school, they had not received a medical certificate to that effect and had not been advised of any possible limitations for the child regarding physical exercise.
The director of the school stated that the exercise being carried out at the time of the incident only involved walking between cones. The Guardia Civil are investigating the incident.
