Two workers at the Son Moix stadium in Palma de Mallorca were seriously injured on Thursday after a generator exploded in the ground’s parking lot. A third person suffered less serious injuries.
The stadium is the venue for Spain’s World Cup qualifier against Belarus on Friday night. Belarus’s training session on Thursday was cancelled after the incident, which left the stadium without floodlights.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation but is not though to have been a deliberate act.
