Local Police officers captured an iguana on one of the access roads to El Playazo beach, near the El Chaparil school, after a visitor to the town reported its presence, thinking it was an endangered species.
The Local Police made contact with the Centre for Endangered Species but were informed that they could do nothing as it was not in fact endangered.
Next stop the vets and the iguana was then homed with a local resident who has a terrarium containing other iguanas. Should the owner turn up to claim it then it will be returned.
