National Police have arrested a young woman in connection with the assault and robbery of an elderly retired Finnish couple in calle Baja, Fuengirola.
The incident took place on November 7th when the couple, aged 73 years and 72 years, were on the way to pay a bill relating to their newly acquired home on the Costa del Sol.
A motorcycle pulled up to block their path and one of the riders snatched the woman’s handbag which contained a cheque for €7,500 and €3,000 in cash.
The husband tried to defend his wife but was pushed to the ground and then kicked in the head, leaving him semi-conscious. The man later required six stitches in his head wound.
Police eventually traced the driver of the motorcycle, a 28-year-old woman, and she has been arrested and charged.
